In an effort to hold students more accountable for their learning, students in grades 6, 7 will be tested after each unit in their book (4 times/year). A minimum of 70% average is required to move on to the next grade. Special consideration will be given for those with IEPs.
Grade 8 will have a mid-term and a final exam. Those students not achieving a 70% score will be given an assignment to complete to improve their score.
7th Grade Students (for 2019-20 school year):
Wednesday, April 1, 2020: “Confirmation Enrollment Promise Ceremony” mandatory for all 7th grade students wishing to be confirmed in 8th grade, and their parents, at 7:30 PM in the church. This is their formal enrollment into the Confirmation program – Confirmation requirements/details to be discussed.

Saturday, October 26 – Confirmation Retreat from 10am-4pm in the gym. All 8th grade students are required to attend.
Confirmation: Thursday, March 26, 2020 – Detailed information will be sent home the first week of March.
8th grade students will receive the sacrament of Confirmation at
4:00 PM – all students in the Monday classes
6:00 PM – all students in the Sunday and Tuesday classes.
Student arrival time 3:15/5:15 PM. Procession of students begins at 3:45/5:45.
Confirmation day is the last day of CCD for the 8th graders.
Please do not call the office to request a change of Confirmation time for your child.
Mandatory practices for Confirmation:
Wednesday, March 25 from 4:30 – 5:30 PM (for the 4PM ceremony) and 6:00 – 7:00 PM (for the 6PM ceremony) in the church. Practice is MANDATORY for all students.
Sponsors DO NOT need to attend practice, but should familiarize themselves with the
paperwork being sent home at the beginning of March.
Dress Code Requirements: All students and sponsors must be neatly dressed.
Girls: Dress, skirt and blouse or dress slacks, dress shoes. Dresses and skirts must be of the appropriate length for Church. Beware that spiky heels can catch in the carpeting causing tripping.
Boys: Dress pants or khakis with dress shirt and tie, dress shoes.
No jeans, T-shirts or sneakers.
All students will wear robes – the girls will wear white and the boys will wear red. The robes will be distributed at in class as Confirmation day approaches. Please check length, zippers, etc. and notify PREP office if there are any issues with gowns. Immediately following the ceremony, students must return the robes to the school building at which time they will receive their Confirmation certificates.
Project Information for Students entering 8th grade in September:
Corporal Works of Mercy Service Project – each child will be required to perform 10 hours of Christian Service – see attached. Each student shall also write a short reflection (about a paragraph) on how this service experience has affected him/her. Both are due on the first day of class in September.
Retreat Day – Required – Saturday, October 26 from 10 – 4 in the gym.
Letter to Fr. Tom – why they want to receive Sacrament, how they prepared for it, how they will continue to live a life of service – due Nov. 3, 4, 5.
Interview of Sponsor – This project is interactive – it’s an interview – not a form to give to the sponsor for him/her to fill out! Suggested questions to be distributed in class in ample time to be completed for due date – Dec. 3, 4, 5.
Confirmation Fee – $100 due by December 1, 2, 3 (click here to pay online)
Sponsor Statement of Faith and Certification Form – due December 1, 2, 3
Information Page – due December 1, 2, 3
Saint Report – name of saint chosen for Confirmation name. (Form will be given in class). – due Jan. 5, 6, 7
Gifts of the Spirit Project – art project (drawing, collage, painting, etc) demonstrating each: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, fear of the law. – Feb. 2, 3, 4
Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during February or March before Confirmation. Submit form signed by priest that heard confession.
